Step into an enchanting evening of ballet as Warwick Center for the Performing Arts and the Warwick Dance Collective present Of Sylphs and Suites, a captivating triple bill that blends classical elegance, imaginative storytelling, and contemporary artistry.
The program opens with the timeless romantic ballet Les Sylphides, where a poet wanders through a moonlit forest surrounded by ethereal sylphs. Set to the exquisite music of Chopin, this beloved work captures the dreamlike beauty and lyricism of classical ballet.
In a delightful new one-act ballet, Carnival of the Animals, audiences follow the journey of a young orphan girl as she begins a new life at the orphanage. Through her dreams, memories, and boundless imagination, the world around her transforms into a whimsical carnival filled with dancing animals and vibrant characters, bringing Saint-Saëns’ beloved score vividly to life.
The evening concludes with Le Verre en Rose, a restaged original work first created for August for the Arts and the Fuller Moon Arts Festival. Now making its way to the main stage, this luminous ballet will be performed to the mesmerizing music of Philip Glass, presented live by a string quartet, creating a powerful fusion of movement and music.
This magical evening-length performance celebrates the artistry, imagination, and dedication of our dancers and is not to be missed.
